Nora Gulbrandsen (1894-1978) created distinctive silver and enamel jewelry pieces for the renowned Norwegian company David-Andersen. Her work for the company was particularly notable for incorporating Norwegian cultural elements into modern designs. One of her significant contributions was a series of jewelry pieces inspired by ancient Norwegian rock carvings, which were produced between 1958 and 1962, representing a relatively short but impactful production period.

Her pieces typically featured sterling silver as the base material, often with gold wash treatments, and were adorned with high-quality enamel work using the guilloche technique. The jewelry collection included various items such as brooches and earrings, which showcased her characteristic style of combining traditional Norwegian motifs with mid-century modern aesthetics.

Gulbrandsen’s jewelry designs for David-Andersen are particularly valued for their artistic merit and historical significance. Her pieces often featured vibrant enamel colors and precise craftsmanship, making them highly collectible examples of Scandinavian modernist jewelry. The limited production period of some of her designs has made them particularly rare and sought-after by collectors of Nordic jewelry.

We’ve just added these two brooches:
